Does what it's supposed to. August 14, 2010 R. Vasquez 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This thing does exactly what it says it does. When your Xbox gets hot it turns on when it cools down it turns off, siple as that! It does a good job of moving air through the unit and can significantly reduce the temperature. I was told that nyko's coolers were garbage worthy but this unit has worked very well for me. I have many friends who have gotten red rings many times, so it is definitely a problem. To be safe you should probably get yourself one of these to keep it cool.
I guess it cools. August 6, 2010 Denis He (virginia, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The tempsmart idea is good but sometimes its hot before it even begins. The best things to do for your xbox is to...
1. Talisman Whisper Fan
2. Penny Trick (youtube it)
3. Arctic Silver 5 on GPU and CPU (there's also a $5 kit on amazon with instructions and needed screws and washers (doesnt include AS5 and thermal paste removal).
In other words, this cooler maybe helps 10%.. or less even if pulls more wind out, it wont pull it fast enough to cool down the GPU, CPU, and heat clamps. Those 3 steps are your best bet. 2 is free ^ =D 3 is around $5 if you have basics are home and 1 you can buy online for about this price. With all 3 of these done, your xbox will be in much better shape. How do I know? I bought this, got the RROD, and tried #2 which fixed it for 2 months, then got RROD again, then tried #3 in conjunction w/ 2 and just as a precaution, I added #1. =D Happy shopping... but not for this....
Not Bad July 21, 2010 TheRealMangina 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had this product for just a few days, and I'm overall happy with it. I was unaware of the noise it makes, but trust me, it's noticeable! I bought this item solely to ease my mind about the RROD. My buddy has been through 3 Xbox's already, and I am doing everything I can to prevent the same outcome. The intercooler does seem to keep the console cooler during gameplay, but the directions said to avoid connecting and disconnecting, so I leave mine on all the time. Also, another reviewer says that it will not read a warm temperature within minutes of turning off the console, but when I'm done gaming for awhile, it's normally for AWHILE (more than 5 minutes). Like I said, I bought this for peace of mind, and it has served it's purpose since I've had it. I would recommend this product to anybody who wants to cool their console but doesn't mind exchanging background noise for price.
Dont buy it will void your warranty with Microsoft July 7, 2010 Lorene Wetzel 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Be fore warned that if you purchase this product your warranty with microsoft will be void. The microsoft tech consultants specifically ask you if you have ever used the "NYKO intercooler". Microsoft claims that the intercooler interferes with the 360's system and that the 360 was not designed with the intention of powering some external fans. Microsoft also claims that many of the systems problems or errors are attributed to NYKO's product, Nyko denies these claims; and basically it boils down to each company pointing fingers at each other. Im not entirely sure how well Microsoft can test to see if you have used an intercooler but i have heard a couple stories of people saying that Microsoft could see some overheating/burn marks from where an intercooler had been. Microsoft told me that it is a 3rd party accessory and therefore not approved for use with the 360 system. Im currently on my 2nd Xbox 360 the warranty to my 1st was terminated because of this product. Ironically it had overheating issues even when used with the nyko intercooler, obviously it didnt work that great.
Great June 7, 2010 Kevin M. Hart (Monte Vista, CO USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
It works great. Runs by itself. Doesn't take power from Xbox 360. Cools when needed and even after Xbox is shut down.
